Sibling Fun Day
Parent to Parent Southland recently hosted a Sibling Fun Day at the Gore Multisports Complex, where 19 young people aged 8 to 18 came together to connect and enjoy activities designed just for them. These siblings of disabled, neurodivergent, or health-impaired brothers and sisters spent the day playing Laser Tag and Soccer Darts, creating new friendships in a safe and supportive environment.
The event included a tasty Subway lunch, adding to the fun and community spirit of the day. The opportunity to meet others who understand their experiences was highly valued by the participants.
Funding from the Hokonui Hauora Fund, covered costs for the activities, lunch, and the time and mileage for the regional coordinator to organise the event were covered. This support made it possible for siblings to enjoy a day focused entirely on them without any financial barriers.
