The annual Hug a Rig Day, held on Saturday 9th August at Waimumu Field Days, was the biggest yet, with 215 participants enjoying rides in 37 trucks and 17 classic cars, up from 170 the previous year. Smiles were abundant as attendees took part in the rides, the lucky stick table, and other fun activities throughout the day.

Hokonui Hauora Fund helped provide food and drinks, including over 450 coffees and 110 kilograms of frozen chips, which the Rapid Relief team served until running out. Volunteers, including the River Valley Lions Club ladies, assisted with registration and goodie bags, while drivers travelled up to three hours to give rides, helping make the day an inspiring and memorable community event.
