Jukebox Heroes

Jukebox Heroes, held at the St James Theatre on 12 April 2025, was the fourth show produced by The Sunbeam Swingers in three years and featured 18 performers of diverse ages, genders, and cultures. With 377 attendees, the theatre was filled with energy and enthusiasm, and the audience responded strongly to the lively performances. Profits from the show were donated to the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust and the St James Theatre’s operational costs, continuing the group’s ongoing support for community organisations.

Hokonui Hauora Fund helped make the event possible, particularly in a year when ticket sales required extra effort due to a crowded events calendar and broader financial pressures. Performers valued the positive energy in the room and the joy that live music brought, while the experience offered useful insights for future planning, with September 2026 considered as a potential date for the next show. The evening was a celebration of connection, creativity, and community.
